The Office of Student Activities is working with the Children’s Study Home to bring gifts to little ones this holiday season.
“Staff, faculty, students and friends of STCC can help with the Secret Santa Initiative by donating a toy or a dollar to help put a smile on a child’s face,” said Andrea Tarpey, coordinator of Student Activities at STCC.
Stop by the Student Activities Office, Building 19, 1st Floor, to drop off your donations. The last day to help is Monday, Dec. 13.
Donation ideas include:
· Board games
· Art Supplies
· Craft/science projects
· Dolls and stuff animals
· Legos and Play-Doh
· Toy balls
· Anything SpongeBob, super hero or PAW Patrol related
· My Little Pony
· Matchbox/Hot Wheels
· Card games
The initiative is a collaboration of the Office of Student Activities, Student Ambassadors and the Children’s Study Home, a nonprofit organization supporting children and families throughout the Pioneer Valley, Berkshires and Cape Cod regions with educational, residential and family services.
Student Government Association leaders also are working on a donation effort to help Afghan refugees who arrived in Western Massachusetts in the wake of the Taliban takeover of their homeland.
Organized by Aminah Bergeron, SGA vice president, the donation drive is seeking winter clothing and other necessities. Here’s a list of needs for the evacuees:
· New winter clothing (hats, gloves and scarves)
· Gift cards (grocery stores and Visa)
· Hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste)
· Kitchenware (posts, pans, plates and utensils)
The deadline to donate is Thursday, Dec. 16, by 4 p.m. Please drop off donations in the Office of Student Activities.
