Springfield Armory National Historic Site (NHS) is proud to announce a community-wide celebration to mark its 50th anniversary as a National Park Service site. The public is invited to a free, family-friendly festival on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, held on the scenic grounds of the Springfield Armory and Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) campus at 1 Armory Square, Springfield, MA.

Superintendent Kelly Fellner stated: “This milestone event honors five decades of preserving the site and stories of the rich military, industrial, and social history of the Springfield Armory. We’re thrilled to invite the community to help us celebrate this legacy with a day full of fun, learning and connection.”
Event Highlights Include:
• Live music performances by the Marlborough Street Band and Carol Devine and the Mighty Fine
• Free Friendly’s ice cream and birthday cake for all attendees
• A variety of local food trucks and vendors
• Arts, crafts, and local artisans’ market
• “Bark in the Park” – a pet-friendly area with special activities for furry friends
• Zoo animals and interactive exhibits for kids
• Historic walking tours and ranger-led experiences through the Armory museum, grounds and Victory Garden.
ABOUT THE PARK: Springfield Armory National Historic Site is the location of the nation’s first armory (1794 – 1968) and was established by George Washington. The site includes historic grounds, buildings, and the world’s largest historic American military firearms collection.
