President John B. Cook joined “STCC Around” on WTCC, 90.7 FM, to discuss options for students enrolling in the fall 2022 semester.
He also reflected on the upcoming commencement ceremony, scheduled June 2, 6:30 p.m., at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
He said STCC is focused on getting students, faculty and staff back together in person. He said students can expect to have face-to-face interactions on campus, both in class and at celebratory events such as picnics on the campus green.
“STCC is a place that has small, average class sizes,” he said. “How wonderful is it to take a class with 15 or 18 other people? That’s one the great values that this college has to offer.”
Students will have the option of choosing classes online or in person next fall.
Meanwhile, the 2021-2022 academic year wraps on this week with the first in-person commencement since 2019.
“I had to remind myself it really has been three years,” he said. “I can feel the excitement and the energy building. We did some wonderful things to make do the last couple of years. Nothing quite like going down to our civic center – the MassMutual Center – in downtown Springfield with all of those families. We’re so thrilled for their loved ones, to be able to see them in their regalia, walk across the stage and get their diploma. I’m excited as anyone for that evening.” For questions about enrolling at STCC this fall, contact Admissions at (413) 755-3333 or email [email protected].
