Springfield Technical Community College’s rising basketball program continues to earn recognition, with two standout freshmen, Justin Phillips and Jeremy Bowers, earning All-League honors in the Region XXI conference.

Phillips, a dynamic 5’9” guard from Hartford, Conn., was named to the All-League Third Team after a stellar season in which he led the Rams in scoring with 17.4 points per game. He proved to be an offensive force, shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to his scoring ability, Phillips showcased his all-around game by averaging 4.5 rebounds and a team-high 4.9 assists per contest. His efficiency at the free-throw line (80 percent) and ability to create his own shot made him a critical piece in STCC’s resurgence this season.

Bowers, a skilled guard from Harlem, N.Y., earned All-League Honorable Mention after providing steady leadership and versatility on both ends of the court. He averaged 11.6 points per game while dishing out a team-best 101 assists, highlighting his playmaking ability. Bowers also led the Rams in steals with 42, showcasing his defensive tenacity. His 41.9 percent shooting from the field kept him an effective scoring option throughout the season.

“This is a great achievement for Justin and Jeremy, and it speaks to the hard work and dedication they’ve put in all season,” said STCC Head Coach Alfredo Cardona. “Our program is getting stronger each year, and having two players recognized at the conference level is proof that we’re heading in the right direction.”

The recognition from Region XXI coaches reflects STCC’s growing reputation in the competitive community college basketball landscape. With Phillips and Bowers leading the charge, the Rams made significant strides this season, solidifying themselves as a rising program in the conference. With a strong foundation, talented recruits, and a commitment to development, STCC basketball continues to gain respect, setting the stage for even greater success in the future.
