This basketball season has been a challenge with all the issues that have occurred. Despite this the STCC women’s basketball has fought adversity and came together as a team to clinch the number two seed in the conference. In my years coaching here we have never clinched a number two seed heading into the playoffs.
This is a very special group of young women who have come together not only to play basketball but have created friendships and bonds that will last forever. We have players from Washington, New Mexico, Utah, California, South Carolina, New York who have come a long distance not only to play basketball but to go to a school that offers quality education designed to springboard their future.
For me as a coach it is inspirational to see the hard work these women have put in not only to represent their school but also represent women’s basketball in general. We recently defeated our in conference rivals UConn Avery Point and Massasoit community college. These young women met the challenge and proceeded to beat UConn at their home gym. We defeated Massasoit at our home and at their home. We are finishing up the regular season getting prepared for the playoffs.
It is the unanimous hope of all of our players to work hard so that we can earn the first women’s basketball banner in our gym.
