SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – On a splendid April day, Springfield Technical Community College hosted a fun-filled Spring Fling outside the Ira H. Rubenzahl Student Learning Commons.
Students had an opportunity to enjoy tasty meals from food trucks, receive gifts and learn about STCC clubs, programs and services on campus. Staff and faculty also mingled at the end-of-the school year celebration.
Sanai Hale, a first-year student studying criminal justice, offered her thoughts about the Spring Fling as she was waiting in line at the Caravan Kitchen food truck which was preparing paninis.
“I think this is a great way for everyone to come together and for everyone to meet new people,” Hale said. “I’m a shy person. I don’t like coming out that much, but this makes me feel like I want to come out more. This is a nice opportunity for everybody.”
Hale earlier had checked out the tables set up promoting a variety of clubs. She was interested in joining the laser or art club.
Jolaine Fagan, a first year student studying Applied Psychology, was also waiting in line to get a bite to eat.
“I like this. It’s really nice. They have really good food. I’m really excited for the food,” she said. “The clubs are helpful. They’re really insightful about what they do and what they’re all about.”
A second option, 50 50 Food Truck, offered burgers, tacos and pulled pork sandwiches. The Spring Fling also included an ice cream truck with an assortment of flavors. We send out a big thank you to Student Activities for sponsoring the event and putting in the work to make the Spring Fling a success.
