Springfield Technical Community College’s wrestling teams returned from Allen, Texas, with a sixth-place finish as a team.
The men’s and women’s teams competed in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships on March 12 in Texas.
The team brought home five All-Americans, which is a classification for top finishers:
- Dylan Beddow of Agawam, 125 pounds – 5th place
- Michael Gonzalez of Naples, 133 pounds – 3rd place
- Justin Perez of Holyoke, 165 pounds – 7th place
- Stephano Magny of Brookline, 197 pounds – 8th place
- Shawn Conniff of Wrentham, 235 pounds – 5th place
On Feb. 26, the teams brought home their fifth consecutive conference title, capturing first place at the NCWA Northeast Conference Championship. The women’s team has only one competitor this year, Waverly KaneLong of Easthampton.
