Congratulations to Nfamara “Fams” Taal, a Respiratory Care clinical instructor at STCC (and a graduate of the program).

Fams was named Colleague of the Month for April at Mercy Medical Center, where he works as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

“Fams has made a huge impression on his colleagues throughout the hospital — they characterize him as a hardworking ‘team player’ who takes initiative and serves as a ‘role model’ for students entering the respiratory field,” wrote Mark Fulco, president of Mercy Medical Center and its affiliates.

Fams started the Sam Taal Global Foundation, a nonprofit that works to enhance the lives of the poor and needy by providing healthcare services in Gambia, where he was born and spent his youth. He recently donated to the Center for Access Services, which helps students in need at STCC.

Fams Taal and STCC faculty Esther Perrelli Brookes and Kathleen Sawtelle last year traveled to Gambia on a medical mission to assist poor communities.
