STCC’s STEM-focused First Year Experience (FYE) courses that took place this summer help prepare students to achieve in a college setting.
The free FYE courses are supported by the federal Title V program, which was created to improve higher education of students identifying as Hispanic, Latino/Latina/Latinx.
Title V is offering STEM FYE courses through 2023-2024 during summer and winter classes providing a free course to incoming freshman.
In 2024, an FYE course will be offered in Spanish.
The FYE course highlights STEM majors, the importance of financial literacy, transfer options, tutoring services, and STCC resources including MILE, LEAD, TRIO, Financial Aid, Student Activities and more.
