Springfield Technical Community College is excited to offer this fantastic opportunity for our students to get involved with the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), a 100 percent online organization to enhance their college experience.
Since the inception of our STCC Chapter in 2020, we have had 314 members join. We have provided over 70 membership scholarships for student leaders and students in need.
The NSLS is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. (We look at your overall GPA and how many credits you have completed.)
In addition to honorable distinction, the NSLS provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus or online. Upon completion of the program, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders at their campus and across the country. Members are able to list their affiliation on all statements of personal accomplishment, including their resume.
Membership provides access to benefits including scholarships and awards, amazing speakers, employer recruitment through an online job bank, and discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance and much more.
The intangibles students gain from membership will drive their future and establish them as a leader among their peers, and include: improved self-esteem, peer leadership skills, sustainable motivation and drive, paradigms that will help students discover and achieve their dreams, real world skills that will help students outperform their peers in the workplace, and an enviable network of movers and shakers that are all a part of the drive to create lasting positive change in the world.
Students additionally will receive other tangible benefits such as online resources on our website, customized letters of recommendation for prospective employers or graduate schools, graduation accessories that they may purchase and wear at graduation to display membership in our organization, access to exclusive scholarships and awards, Success Coaches and our entire Keynote speaker series.

I hope faculty and staff will consider encouraging students to join the STCC Chapter of this organization. I encourage you to visit the website to learn about many of the things I mentioned above. I think becoming a member of NSLS will truly be a great experience and is worth getting involved. Please feel free to contact Andrea Tarpey, STCC/NSLS Chapter Advisor at Tarpey@stcc.edu if you have any questions.
